“Commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” Proverbs 16:3

In life all of us were expected to face a lot of hurdles in our journey to success. Sometimes, we lose our confidence when we feel that the effort we invested to succeed fall in the wrong ground. Yet, one must not forget that life-challenges are blessings wrapped in pain and there’s always a positive outcome when we don’t give up on our dreams. Every single thing that happened in our lives whether good or bad has a purpose and it’s right to commit our faith to the Lord.

Just like the roller coaster college story of a diligent girl from Laguindingan Misamis Oriental named “Kathy Mae Bolonos” who graduated with Latin Honors from one of the prestigious universities in the city of Cagayan De Oro. Kath faced a lot of obstacles in her college journey but even then, she has constantly proven her exemplary performance towards her professors. She came from a simple family and her dad is a police officer in their municipality. During her freshman year in college, she reminisces about the moment that one of her instructors gave her a 3.2 grade in prelim for a missing quiz. College life was indeed too vague for her to handle and the other breaking part is also knowing how her neighbors addressed her as “black sheep” as they believed Kath is completely different from her siblings. So much for that, she had the feeling that her parents didn’t give her the same attention they gave to her siblings.

On June 20, 2022, one of Kath's closest instructors in the university called her via messenger and informed her that she didn’t make it to become a Cum Laude since she got an INC grade from her previous particular subject. At that time, she felt like her whole world collapsed as she heard the bad news. Even though she already settled that matter before the last semester of the school year started and it made her feel so disappointed. She had thought all along everything was her instructor's mistake since the instructor failed to realize that she took the final exam. Her mom consoled her by telling her everything is a test of faith and asked her to never let go of her faithfulness to God no matter how discouraged she felt.

Kath prayed deeply and cried while praying. Later that day, the instructor who gave her an INC grade told Kath that her grades had been evaluated again by the school registrar. As her instructor admitted to the registrar it was all her lapses and Kath was not at fault. However, her case turned out to be the fault of her college course department as they forgot to include her name in the list of honors. One month had passed and it was her graduation day. The result was revealed and Kath was given the honors of Magna Cum Laude.

The college story of Kath is indeed a miraculous destiny that has been made possible by faith. Her mom was right, all of the cruel things which happened in our lives are purely a test of faith. We are designed in this world to face life challenges and surpass them in a Godly way. As Kath said during our interview, “Never give up on something you aimed for. Don’t feel down on things you didn’t expect to happen. Don’t lose hope and keep your faith in God. Invest in your prayers as God has better plans for you and nobody can’t change the fate that God has given you.”
